Trauma therapy for people who answer the call

Moor is a two-clinician practice for first responders, veterans and the people who share their homes. EMDR and body-based work, at a pace you set, in a quiet room off Margaret Street.

Before you book

What the first sessions are not

Many people wait because they expect to be asked for the worst day first. That is not how we begin.

  • Not a retelling

You do not have to tell the story of your worst call, tour or night. We start with sleep, work, home and what you would like to be different.

  • Not a report

Sessions are private, apart from the limits the law sets, which we explain before you say anything. We do not send notes to your department or command.

  • Not a fitness-for-duty exam

We do not do evaluations for your employer or your unit. We are on your side of the table, and only yours.

  • Not a promise to continue

After a few sessions you decide whether this fits. Stopping is allowed, and we will say so out loud.

How it begins

Three steps to a first session

  • 01

    Write or call

Tell us when you can talk and how you would like us to reach you. You do not need to explain anything else.

  • 02

We send the forms and the estimate

Intake forms are on our own portal, not in an email. If you pay without insurance, the written estimate comes first.

  • 03

You come in, or log on

Fifty minutes, in the office or by video from anywhere in Florida. Park behind the building and use the ground-floor door.

How fees work

The questions people ask before a first session, answered the way we would on the phone.

  • Insurance we work with

Moor bills some health plans and is out of network with others, so the answer depends on your plan. We do not take Medicare or Medicaid. If your coverage comes through military service or a department or union plan, ask us before you book and we will say plainly whether we can bill it.

    • Some PPO plans, billed by us

    • Employee assistance program sessions, where your employer offers them

    • No Medicare or Medicaid

  • If you pay yourself

If you pay yourself, you pay at the end of each session by card, including HSA and FSA cards. Your fee is given to you in writing before you begin. A limited number of reduced-fee places are open; ask when you write. Please give 24 hours' notice to change a session, so we can offer the time to someone else.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

At the end of each month you can have an itemized receipt, called a superbill, to send to your plan if it reimburses out-of-network care. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Whether your plan pays is its decision, and we cannot promise that it will.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We send you one in writing before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

We check your benefits before the first session and tell you what we found, in plain words. If something is unclear, we say so rather than guess. You can also call your plan and ask about outpatient mental health visits.

Questions

Questions people ask first

Will my department, unit or command know?

No. We do not contact your employer, and we do not send them notes. What you tell us is private, apart from the limits the law sets: a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, abuse of a child or an older adult, and a court order. We explain each one before you say anything.

Do I have to talk about what happened?

No. The first sessions are for learning what you carry and what helps. You decide when, and whether, to put a memory into words.

Do you take my insurance?

It depends on the plan. Some PPO plans we bill ourselves; for others we give you a receipt to send in. Read how fees work, then write to us and we will check before your first session.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, any time. Veterans can press 1 after dialing. In an emergency, call 911. This site is not monitored around the clock.

Can I come with my partner?

Yes, to some sessions or to none. Partners can also come on their own. Partner sessions are 80 minutes.
